Acne does appear on babies and the usual parts of the anatomy where they appear are the face (forehead, cheeks and the chin). At times they might be there at birth; though, usually they appear between 3 or 4 weeks after birth.
Hormonal changes may be attributed as one of the major causes of acne in babies; as the oil glands develop and secrete oil. They tend to look more horrid when the baby is roused emotionally; like crying etc. Nothing to unduly worry; as they disappear of their own accord after a few weeks. However, if they persist, then there is an herbal treatment for it.
The other factor which may give impetus to the growth of pimples in babies is breast feeding by a mother who is under medication or is on the pill. All these factors contribute to baby rash and baby acne. In rare cases, it has been observed that hormonal changes give unwanted hair growth in babies. Baby boys who have these infantile problems may be prone to acne problem in their teens. Rashes may develop in other parts of the body as well; however, the rubbing by clothes and harsh detergent used to wash baby clothes is the usual culprit. Diaper rashes can be best dealt with by a caring mother.
It is advised not to use acne treatments which are used for adults on babies. They are full of harmful chemicals and would aggravate the baby acne further.
Mothers don’t need to be reminded that a baby’s skin is tender and it should be dealt with accordingly. For baby acne treatment the mother would need to diet first and if the pimples or acne still persist then aloe-Vera lotion as a herbal and natural treatment; as it is very soothing and calamine lotions are recommended, though in consultation with a renowned child specialist. Whatever you do make certain that you keep your baby’s skin clean.
